MIAMI - Baltic cruise itineraries make their debut on Star Clippers’ roster in summer 2012 with the positioning of Star Flyer in the northern European region from May through August. Ranging from three-night samplers to 11-night explorations, a variety of itineraries to some of the Baltic’s most popular capital cities as well as several smaller, more intimate ports of call are featured on the 170-guest tall ship.

With departures out of England, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, guests get an in-depth experience of the area and often visit several countries on one sailing.

“As a Swedish native, there’s nothing more fulfilling and exciting than introducing the Star Clippers ships to my home country and showing our guests the incredible beauty of that part of the world,” said Mikael Krafft, president and owner of Star Clippers. “The Baltic has a rich history of sailing, and the variety of ports we feature is sure to make these itineraries an instant success.”

Extended stays and late-night departures make certain that guests have enough time to take in the sights and thoroughly explore a region known for it’s natural beauty, cultural diversity and historical depth.

In May a series of short cruises out of Hamburg and Warnemünde (Rostock), Germany, coincide with the annual Sailing Parade, which attracts tall ships from around the world.

In addition to port favorites like Hamburg, Germany; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Copenhagen, Denmark; St. Petersburg, Russia (overnight); Antwerp, Belgium; Oslo, Norway; Stockholm, Sweden, and Helsinki, Finland, guests will visit less-visited, yet equally interesting ports such as Gdansk, Poland; Kristiansand, Norway; Ventspils, Latvia; Tallinn, Estonia, and Klaipeda, Lithuania. Nine ports in Sweden appear among the itineraries and ensure that Krafft’s homeland is well represented.
